Montgomery Xmas Lights 2015

Lights, Camera, Action !

The Towns Xmas lights were turned on this evening by the Worlds Tallest Town Crier

Martin Wood

Shrewsbury Town Crier

Guest Crier

For one night only !

Our own Sue Blower ( Monty Town Crier ) relinquished her Crier attire for just this one night to welcome back Mr Martin Wood.  Martin, at 7 foot 2 inches gave a welcoming speech - partly with microphone, which was sort of redundant as he is famed for being LOUD !!!.

He warmed up the crowd then led the shouted countdown before throwing the switch.

Surely Gentle Giant Martin must be a shoe in on the casting bench for the next 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie !

Procession from St Nicholas

The evening had begun with a children's torch-lit procession behind Santa from St. Nicholas church, down into Broad Street and along to the Town Hall

Crafty old Santa

Rudolph and friends were left to graze and build up their strength tonight as Santa harnessed a little Horse-power to arrive at the Town Hall.

Children Carol Singing

Our very own Town Crier - Sue Blower - led the processions children in a few carols before introducing Martin.

Food and Drink

Beefburger and Hot Roast Chestnuts were available from stalls outside and were widely enjoyed while some revelers chose to head for the Fish and Chip shop.

Colourful Montgomery

The moment we had all been waiting for, and the result of all the hard work over the last few months of the Montgomery Xmas Lights Committee.

Afterall....   The lights do not organise and install themselves !

Well done folks !!!

Colourful Montgomery

We wish all our Visitors to, and residents of Montgomery a great festive season..

Happy Xmas and New Year.
