Oktoberfest - Beneath the Ffridd
Friday 5th October - Start: 17:30 (5.30pm)
( No Booking Required for this walk - Just turn up and walk )
4 kms / 2.5 miles
Start the Festival with a stroll through the beech woods and undulating fields surrounding Montgomery. Lovely views of a hillfort, Montgomery castle, the Severn Valley and the Welsh hills.
Begins and ends at Montys' Brewery visitor centre ( The Cottage, Montgomery, Powys, SY15 6QT ) where, at the end of the walk you are invited to join us and sample their famous 'Oktoberfest' hospitality.
Going: Woodland and field paths and a short stretch of very quiet country lane.
Saturday 6th October - Start: 10:00 ( 10am )
18 kms / 11 miles
Catch a country bus to the 'Alps' and walk back to Montgomery.
Superb views and varied walking including a visit to a stone circle. You will be surprised how much the landscape can vary over such a short distance from Montgomery.
Going: Field, turf and woodland paths. Short sections of extremely quiet country lanes. A short section of steep descent.
Hills Vales & Trails - Challenge Walk

By popular request the 2017 challenge walk is back !
The walk takes in parts of the Severn Way, Kerry Ridgeway and Offa's Dyke long distance trails and a beautiful linking walk over the Cefn y Coed hills. Superb views all along combining canal walking, gradual ascents and descents with a steep ascent and descent. No scrambling is involved and a refreshment stop is included.
Going: Moderate ascents and descents with a steep ascent and descent.
Offas' Dyke, Vale of Montgomery and Town Hill
Saturday 6th October - Start: 11:00 ( 11am )
11 kms / 6.5 miles
Combine the beautiful Vale of Montgomery with a walk along part of Offa's Dyke. Then gradually ascend Town Hill to view the countryside you have just walked through taking in the Shropshire hills and Long Mynd to the west with Welsh hills and Mountains stretching to the horizon over Snowdonia to the east.
Going: Field paths, a metalled estate drive, gradual ascents and descents and less than 2 kilometres of extremely quiet country lanes.
Cefn y Coed and Montgomery Hills
Sunday 7th October - Start: 10:00 ( 10am )
19 kms / 11.5 miles
A beautiful walk through the richly farmed hills west of Montgomery taking in panoramic vistas across the Severn Valley and, on a clear day Snowdonia national park beyond. Superb views along very varied field paths.
Going: Less than 3 kilometres on extremely quiet country lanes. Only two short steep ascents, the rest being rolling hills.
Montgomery Heritage Walk
Sunday 7th October - Start: 11:00 ( 11am )
6.5 kms / 4 miles
Wander through beautiful Lymore Estate parkland with fine views of the strategic position of Montgomery and of Corndon Hill. Walk a stretch of Offa's Dyke National Trail and explore the rich history of the old County Border town and Castle with knowledgeable local guides. There will be an opportunity to visit the award winning Old Bell Museum at the end of the walk.
Going: Mainly level easy walking on paths and rights of way.
Wildlife Walk - Dolforwyn Woods and Montgomery Canal
Sunday 7th October - Start: 14:00 ( 2pm )
( from Abermule Community centre car park )
6 kms / 3.5 miles
A fascinating, varied walk for all the family including the Montgomery Canal and Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust reserve at Dolforwyn Woods. Naturalists from the Trust will explain the importance of the mixed and ancient woodland.
Going: Mainly easy walking on canal towpath, short stretch of very quiet country lane and access tracks.

There is no booking required for Friday 5th October 'Oktoberfest - Beneath the Ffridd' walk. However, places are limited on all other walks and MUST be reserved in advance. Book early using our online forms below to reserve your place - there is no charge for the walks. Your details will be used only to confirm your booking and to provide you with further information regarding your chosen walks.
NOTE: Unfortunately, due to the livestock based farmland these walks go through, walkers will not be able to take their dogs on the walks. However dogs are welcome in the town shops, cafes and Hotel plus most of the listed accommodation too.
Old Bell Museum - Open Saturday and Sunday.
A fascinating historical collection with a special display commemorating the 750th anniversary of the Treaty of Montgomery. Open Saturday and Sunday. Small entry charge.
Cloverlands Model Car Museum - Open Friday /Saturday / Sunday

Montgomery's 2nd OKTOBER FEST - Friday 5th October 17:00 - 22:00 ( 5pm - 10pm )
A fantastic opportunity to sample award winning locally brewed beers, ciders, speciality gins and a choice of wines with your sauerkraut and bratwurst at Monty's Brewery Visitor centre here in Montgomery. Find out more about Offa's Dyke National Trail and try Monty's Brewery 'Best Offa' special brew. Other local produce available. Booking not required.
Noson Gymreig - Supper and Music - Saturday 6th October from 19:30 ( 7:30pm )
Festival Supper is offered to walkers booked for the Festival at a special Half price of only £5.00
