Montgomery Walking Festival 2020 Covid 19 Update Montgomery Walking Festival booking will now open here on 1st June 2020 The Montgomery Walking Festival organising committee are confident that by Autumn 2020 our UK outdoor activity restrictions will be eased and are confident that our  October Walking Festival will be able to proceed – whilst conforming to all UK Government advice as to isolation and safety pertaining at that time.  Our Government are due to release further details during May 2020 and we have therefore decided to postpone booking for our walks until 1st June 2020 in order for us to Continue reading

Welsh Assembly Senedd visit

Welsh Assembly Senedd Visit Montgomeryshire AM unveils painting Montgomery residents took a trip to the Welsh Assembly building in Cardiff for the unveiling of a painting of their Town Crier, Sue Blower, in full ceremonial regalia.  The painting, by local artist Daniel Yeomans of Llandysil, is on prominent display on the top floor. The structurally stunning Senedd building was constructed in 2006 and houses the Welsh Assembly. It is based on the seafront in Cardiff and overlooks wonderful views of the old docks area that has been redeveloped into a vibrant waterfront location. Gardening Club – Visit to Millichope Park – 12th September 2016

Montgomery Gardening Club Wildegoose Nursery Visit 12th September 2016 Millichope Park Walled Garden, Munslow, Shropshire, SY7  9HE The Montgomery Gardening club travelled out into the Shropshire hills to Wildegoose Nurseries within the walled gardens of Millichope Park near Munslow. Laura and Jack, a young enthusiastic and entrepreneurial couple, treated us to a guided tour of their outside plantings and recently renovated hot house enclosures within the walled gardens of Millichope Park.   The gardens are open to the public Friday to Sunday (inclusive) 11am – 4pm  until the 9th October 2016… then will reopen during the 2017 season.  See their Continue reading

We attended the first of 4 evenings at Powis Castle, Welshpool ( 7 miles from Montgomery ) to view the Illuminated Formal Gardens and captured these colourful photos on our walk around the grounds. Early morning visit to the dew-soaked Dingle Gardens – October 2015—————————————————————————The Dingle Gardens just outside Welshpool are just a short 7 miles car journey from Montgomery and are one of our favourite places to visit, relax and take in the atmosphere and beautiful scenery at any time of the year. Bat & Moth evening at Roundton Hill – Wildlife Trust

  We spent a lovely late June evening as guests of the Wildlife Trust at Roundton Hill Nature reserve near Montgomery.   They were holding a Bat and Moth survey evening with a Talk and Quiz for interested parties. Distance from Montgomery – 5 miles South West     We eventually left the wood as midnight approached leaving behind the Moth and Bat group members still labouring away.   It will not be the last visit we will make and we look forward to future trips with the Wildlife Trust members. Monty’s Brewery – Visitor Centre

Why not take a short walk out from the Town hall and try the award winning Monty’s range of beers in their new visitor centre nearby, Inside it’s a comfortable, welcoming environment complete with cozy seating areas, alcoves and a video viewing area showcasing Monty’s Brewery suppliers and brewing process.  It feels very much like a traditional pub with plenty of interesting displays set around the rooms.
