Autumn in and around Montgomery

Photo of Spectacular Rustgill

Autumn in and around Montgomery Summer in Montgomery is lush, but Autumn is enchanting.  Hedgerows are heavy with berries and woodlands wear their reds and yellows with pride.  September and October are some of the best months to visit Dolforwyn woods , featuring ancient woodland with a great variety of tree species and a bounty of fungi. Roundton Hill nature reserve is also a great place for discovering fungi in the early autumn. See if you can spot Date Waxcap (Hygrocybe spadicea), Pink Waxcap (Hygrocybe calyptriformis) Olive Earthtongue (Microglossum olivaceum) or Violet Coral (Clavaria zollingeri), which is also referred to as the Amethyst Fairy Club.
